FUN & PHILOSOPHY WEEKEND
28-30 January 2011 at Wildwood Retreat
Enjoy a relaxing but intellectually stimulating weekend in the cool, green surrounds of Wildwood Retreat at Penny Royal (near Deans Marsh).
Wildwood Retreat has comfortable amenities and is set among green grass, stately trees and a winding creek. Take gentle walks in quiet places or retreat and relax. Swim in the pool to cool off. The more cerebral can enjoy a game of chess in the comfy lounge or make use of the library.
PROGRAM
Friday 28 January
Arrive from 5pm, settle in and participate in the fun activities on offer.
Saturday 29 January
During the day, explore ideas and values on the topic ‘Speaking about compassion’ with an informed panel that includes a refugee advocate, a theologian, a philosopher and a Buddhist nun. All one needs to participate is an interest in the issue and a willingness to discuss it openly and honestly from your best understanding. (No prior knowledge of philosophy is required.) A sense of fun and companionship will enrich the overall experience.
Saturday night, enjoy a Greek-style feast. (Dress-up is optional but encouraged.)
Sunday 30 January
Sunday morning, amble to the local berry farm for berry picking or relaxation and coffee.
Enjoy lunch upon return to Wildwood retreat. Includes chocolate fondue with freshly-picked berries.
Sunday afternoon, farewells and departure at 3pm.
PRICES
Prices for the fully-catered weekend vary based on your accommodation preference.
- Shared bunk-house style accommodation: $210 per person
- Single room: $230 per person
- Double room: $410
- Non-powered campsite: $100 per person (no bedding provided)
Bedding and towels are provided. BYO your favorite liquor, if desired. Cooperative food preparation and general ‘mucking in’ is requested.
