Social Media is significantly changing the way business is conducted. Through Social Media organisational reputations can rise and fall with as much volatility as the stock exchange. To help us understand those changes and some of the serious risks organizations face when engaging with Social Media, Deakin University’s Ross Monaghan (pictured right) will discuss:

  • Why and how social media has changed the political and business landscape
  • How you can bypass traditional media and engage with your customers
  • What every business, large or small, must do to protect their online reputation
  • Steps you can take to protect your employees and business

Ross Monaghan is a Deakin University academic, experienced professional communicator, educator and author. He co-founded TheMediaPod.net, a blogging and podcasting website with a focus on public relations and media related issues. A former Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Mobile Telecommunications Association, and Chairman of the Mobile Carriers Forum, Ross has represented some of Australia’s largest organisations including BHP, Telstra and Optus. He has a unique combination of communications theory and practical experience and is well regarded for his current work and re-search in the area of social media.
